My Bookkeeping Online takes security seriously. We regularly review our procedures to incorporate the latest technical developments, and here are just some of the precautions we currently take:

Our security is modelled on the policies and measures taken by banks - using 128 bit SSL encryption which is the same as internet banking.

Each server has a shadow server to which data is constantly backed up. Chances of losing data are minimal.

We only hold users bank account data that we need to in order to do our job. This is why we ask for bank account numbers (to assist with the import process), but no other banking information.

No person has access to your account unless you invite them.

You can remove any users at any point.

Users must choose two passwords for extra security.

A further precaution we take is not allowing the browser to save your login, which eliminates access from a stolen or compromised computer.

If you are logged in and don't use My Bookkeeping Online for 15 minutes you will be automatically logged out, unless you tick the “Remember me” button when you log in.

Firstly, your data isn‘t stored on your computer - if your computer is lost or stolen no one can access your data.

There is no need for emailing account data or handing out discs, that are easily lost, with all your confidential information on.

When you pay for the subscription to My Bookkeeping Online, the process is managed on behalf of My Bookkeeping Online by Paypoint and collected on our behalf by Lloyds Cardnet.

At no point are your card details held on the My Bookkeeping Online website, or available to anyone on the My Bookkeeping Online team.

We work very hard to keep My Bookkeeping Online secure. Here are some simple steps you can take to stay protected:

Create a password nobody can guess - no dictionary words or family names please!

Don‘t share your password with anybody.

Don‘t write your password on a sticky note and attach it to your computer.

Keep your browser software up-to-date.
